Oxidised LDL ELISA (10-1143-01)
The Mercodia Oxidized LDL ELISA kit is intended to be used for the in vitro quantitative measurement of oxidized low density lipoproteins (oxidized LDL) in human serum or plasma.
Kit format: 1 x 96 wells
Measurement range: 1.4 – 21.3 mU/L (9 – 140 U/L when multiplied with dilution factor)
Description
- Gives an accurate measurement of the physiological signalling to the scavenging macrophages that will create foam cells, vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis.
- CE/IVD labeled on select markets
- Controls included in the kit

Specificity
The proprietary mouse monoclonal antibody 4E6 was developed by Professors Holvoet and Collen at the University of Leuven, Belgium. It targets a conformational epitope in the ApoB100 moiety of LDL, which is formed when at least 60 lysine residues in ApoB100 are substituted with aldehydes. This level of modification is necessary for scavenger-mediated uptake of oxidized LDL.
- Aldehydes that modify ApoB100 can originate from lipid peroxidation of LDL or be released by endothelial cells under oxidative stress and activated platelets.
- Unlike other assays, the Mercodia Oxidized LDL ELISA uniquely measures both MDA- and aldehyde-modified oxidized LDL, thanks to the specificity of the 4E6 antibody.
