It is with great sadness that Diagenics has to announce that Peter Atkinson has passed away. Peter had been unwell for some time and unfortunately caught COVID-19 while in hospital, and passed away peacefully on the 14th of April 2021, aged 73.
Our sympathy goes out to Peter’s family and friends. He will be greatly missed by the Diagenics family.
What sad news that Peter has passed away. I haven’t seen or spoken to him for a long time, but I remember him as a very calm, nice, knowledgeable man. The funny thing about him was his typical English attitude and accent, which was sometimes difficult for me to follow.
I wish the family and all Diagenics colleagues a lot of strength with this loss.

I am saddened by the passing away of Peter whom I have known for several years (almost 22 yrs) as a representative from Diagenics. He would always come across as a plesant and polite person and, would keep a smiling face.
He was very helpful in finding information about products from Diagenics and was very helpful in providing financial support for my colleagues to attend the annual BSACI conferences.
I saw him as a good hearted person rather than being a “rep”.
Please convey my condoleances to Peter’s family.
I feel very sad hearing that Peter has passed away. I will always remember Peter as the perfect gentleman he was and as a brilliantly skilled person in his profession.
I felt greatly saddened when I was told of Peter’s passing. I worked alongside Peter for 7 years and he was always a friendly, positive and helpful presence in the office. Whilst he will always be missed, his memory will remain at Diagenics. My thoughts go out to Peter’s family at this time.
I will greatly miss Peter, having worked with and gotten to know him over my eight years at Diagenics. He was a caring, kind, and brilliant man with whom it was an honour to work alongside. My sympathies go out to his family at this difficult time, and may he rest in peace.
I was very sad to hear of Peter’s passing and convey my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. He was a very sweet man who will be missed.
I was very saddened to learn the loss of Peter. Although it was only a few times during the year that I spoke to Peter regarding his tax affairs, we always enjoyed a good catch up and I shall miss not only Peter but our chats and his humour. Peter was a pure gent and my sympathies go out to his family
I am truly saddened to hear of Peter’s death. Peter was such a great asset for Diagenics and such an extremely nice person. He was a terrific supporter of BSACI over at least 20 years. I always enjoyed talking to him at the annual meetings. Please accept my sincere condolencies for his family and his colleagues.
Peter was a special person who will be missed by all of us.
It is with great sadness that we learned of Peters’ death. All colleagues of Allergopharma who knew Peter mourn with their loved ones.
Peter was a true gentleman with perfect manners, who moved on all levels. His great knowledge has always led to new suggestions and reflection. A personality who has advanced the world.
We will miss Him. Our thoughts go out to Peter’s family at this time.
All Allergopharma Colleagues
Mr Peter Atkinson
Peter was a very important person in the development of my career as he “nurtured” me whilst I was a brand new research nurse in the late 1990’s.
We had very regular meetings at Homerton Hospital due to his role acting as the clinical research associate in two long lasting Allergopharma clinical trials on Allergovit (grass), the then novel allergoid. This went on for about six to seven years. I looked forward to our working together every six weeks or so and we got on well.
I am sorry for the Diagenics family loss of Peter as a close colleague, business partner and friend. Indeed, especially for Peter’s family naturally. He was a good man. Too young to have left us at this time.
Look after yourselves, there is much to celebrate in what you have achieved together.

I was looking through my files and found this reference (below) for a paper published in JACI in which Peter is an author in one of the very first Allergovit DBPC clinical trials with the great researchers Edda Frank, Oliver Cromwell and Professor Rajakulasingham.

Peter has been a very helpful person in providing information on allergen products and always promptly come back with these information whenever I required them.
My sincere heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
